And They Crucified Him

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, "They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots." And sitting down they watched him there; And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Matthew 27:35-37 KJV

When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified Him, along with the criminals--one on His right, the other on His left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up His clothes by casting lots. The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One." The soldiers also came up and mocked Him. They offered him wine vinegar and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself." Luke 23:33-37 NIV

After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the scripture), "I thirst." A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished"; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Since it was the day of Preparation, in order to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the sabbath (for that sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him; but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. He who saw it has borne witness--his testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth--that you also may believe. John 19:28-35 RSV

One Man Should Die for the People

The Plot to Kill Jesus
Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation." And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all, nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish." Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad. Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.
John 11:45-53 NKJV

Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude. Luke 22:3-6 NKJV

Thanks be unto God for his amazing gift: Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God is the object of our faith; the only faith that saves is faith in Him.

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over." Isaiah 60:1,2.

Attitude of Gratitude

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

What you have now was once among the things you only hoped for!

Pray: Thank you, Father, for your mercy, your forgiveness, and your loving care for me. Thank you for my family-for every good and no-so-good quality in each member. Thank you for the privilege of being a mother! Thank you for the circumstances in my life at this very moment; help me to see your hand at work. In Jesus's name, amen.

Request: Do you have a really good children's bible that you can recommend? Please email the name of it to lakemagmom@gmail.com I will post them to the site. We have had several requests for this!
